Dave Chapman is a Chartered Structural Engineer working in the steel industry since 1986. Firstly, with the steelwork fabricators Wescol Glosford, and Dyer, engaged in the design/tendering of stadia, warehouse, office projects etc, where he became Technical Director. Involved in the development of Cellular beams (Westok), including the first commercial design and sale. Subsequently, 20 years at Corus/Tata Steel/BCSA as Technical Manager disseminating technical information (Portal Frames, Connections, Fire, Acoustics, Vibration, Sustainability), mainly to structural engineers by presentations/publications.

In 2023 joining ArcelorMittal’s Steligence department, in a broader role, responsible for the specification/integration of the company’s wide-range of low-carbon (XCarb®) Long and Flat products within the UK. More often though, speaking about sustainability, and how to decrease a project’s embodied carbon footprint.
