Simon Houska

Preconstruction and Technical Manager, Byrne Bros

Simon is the Preconstruction and Technical Manager for Byrne Bros. He has worked for the company for 21 years, with 13 years on site and the remainder in Head Office. Simon leads our Technical Group, whose role it is to constantly research and learn about the latest technical and environmental developments in the concrete industry. Once a technology/material/method catches our eye, they then engage with the respected parties and actively trial the material in a realistic construction environment. He is a founding member of the Low Carbon Concrete Group (LCCG), active participant in ConcreteZero and currently working with Imperial College London on a potential carbon negative concrete.

Byrne Bros is a specialist concrete contractor, with 52 years’ experience ranging from Nuclear, Airports, Stadia to High-Rise, Complex Top Down Basements and Bespoke Architectural concrete. As one of the leading and most innovative contractors the environment has always been a strong consideration, however over the last 2.5 years we have worked diligently to develop meaningful and actual low carbon results for our Clients. We can offer a range of strategies to suit the project requirements and Client’s ambitions. These are now seamlessly integrated into our tender offers that clearly demonstrate the environmental benefits. All our new projects report monthly their ECO2e to demonstrate our progress of actively reducing carbon.
