Retrofit and the Circular Economy
In order to bring built assets up to a modern lettable energy efficiency takes deep retrofit which comes in many forms. In this session we will explore how the team at Stanhope and their industry partners are using two contrasting approaches on projects in central London. The first with Schroders at Chenies Street, Fitzrovia, where historic facades of separate buildings are being sensitively retained and thermally improved while a super efficient extension is built above and the buildings are combined. Meanwhile, Becket House in Lambeth, south London is part of the wider Royal Street scheme where the developer is working with Guy’s & St Thomas’ Foundation and Baupost to deliver a new innovation district focused on MedTech and life sciences. Becket House, an existing office building, will undergo a deep retrofit to make it fit for purpose for the future.
