Q&A with Dave Chapman, Sustainability Lead UK, ArcelorMittal

Why is it important that the UK’s property, planning and sustainability sectors come together at FOOTPRINT+?

It is crucial for the UK's property, planning, and sustainability sectors to converge at FOOTPRINT+ because this event serves as a focal point for the construction and building industry. It provides a unique platform where industry professionals can not only witness but actively engage in discussions about the latest ideas and trends. The collaborative synergy among these sectors is essential for fostering innovation, sharing insights, and collectively addressing the challenges and opportunities that shape the future of sustainable construction practices.

What did you hear about / experience at our last year’s event which has made you want to come back?

ArcelorMittal had a highly positive experience as both speakers and attendees at the previous FOOTPRINT events in Brighton.  The rich exchange of knowledge, dynamic discussions, and the overall excellence of the event played a role in our choice to participate in FOOTPRINT+ 2024 once again. The platform not only facilitated discussions but also allowed us to showcase our commitment to sustainable construction practices.

When you attend FOOTPRINT+ in May 2024 what will you be sharing with conference delegates, policy makers, your partners, and your industry peers?

When attending FOOTPRINT+ in May 2024, ArcelorMittal is excited to share our extensive range of low-carbon emissions products XCarb® and high-strength steel. From sections and sheet piles to rebar, fiber, cladding, decking, tubes, and plate, we aim to showcase how our diverse product line can significantly minimize both the mass and carbon footprint of construction projects.

ArcelorMittal is also excited to engage in discussions and present our perspectives on optimizing carbon emissions, particularly in the construction industry, emphasizing the use of steel products with a significantly reduced carbon footprint. Our presentation aims to contribute valuable knowledge to conference delegates, policy makers, partners, and industry peers, showcasing practical approaches for achieving sustainable construction practices through the responsible use of steel materials.

What are you looking to get out of the FOOTPRINT+ event?

At the FOOTPRINT+ event, ArcelorMittal aims to start relationships with developers, engineers, architects, and other specifiers. Our goal is to collaborate with them in fulfilling their company commitments to reduce the embodied carbon of their projects. We seek to initiate valuable relationships and contribute to sustainable practices within the construction and design community.
