Q&A with Clare Goggin, Partner, Jackson Coles
Why is it important that the UK’s property, planning and sustainability sectors come together at FOOTPRINT+?
Our approach to decarbonising the built environment is twofold; to have an unrelenting focus on our own operations and business practices, and to leverage our knowledge, expertise and passion to support and guide our clients and collaborators through their ESG journeys. The more frequently we can come together to engage and learn from each other, the better equipped we’ll be to accelerate positive change in our industry.
What did you hear about / experience at our last year’s event which has made you want to come back?
Last year’s conference was really thought-provoking and energising. Our tailored service and advice is constantly evolving and we found the rich exchange of knowledge and ideas really useful. Connecting with so many people who share our commitment to building a better future was also very valuable, and we want to grow these relationships in 2024.
When you attend FOOTPRINT+ in May 2024 what will you be sharing with conference delegates, policy makers, your partners, and your industry peers?
Retrofit projects have always been a core specialism, and the majority of our work is focused on remodelling and refurbishing existing assets. We understand the challenges that highly constrained and complex sites (including heritage buildings)bring, and this understanding enables us to plan projects and reduce risks properly from the outset. We hope this knowledge means we have a lot to contribute and share, whether we’re discussing how to overcome obstacles, how to harness innovation, how to support clients in balancing costs and opportunities, and how we believe sustainable development practices and priorities will evolve.
We’re also really looking forward to chairing a panel session (on “Embodied ecological impact of materials”) for the first time.
What are you looking to get out of the FOOTPRINT+ event?
We want to maximize this great opportunity to learn, share, debate, connect and grow our ability to push the wider sustainability agenda forward.
