Q&A with Jose Hamp, Commercial Director - A&D Flooring Projects, Modulyss
Why is it important that the UK’s property, planning and sustainability sectors come together at FOOTPRINT+?
We are all custodians of our environment. Reducing carbon in the built environment requires everyone to play their part and work together, from planning and design, through to construction and occupation. As manufacturers in this process, we have a duty of care and commitment to saving our planet. Manufacturing for circulatory of raw materials, reducing waste and taking responsibility for extending the life of our products is at the very forethought of our company. This is a whole industry collaboration, requiring constant R&D and which relies upon innovation to bring about change and leading voices within our industry to champion and implement it. FOOTPRINT+ is providing a platform so that everyone can have a voice and join in the conversation, so that together we can implement the changes that are going to impact most positively, where sustainability is no longer a choice but the norm.
What did you hear about / experience at our last year’s event which has made you want to come back?
Unfortunately we heard about FOOTPRINT+ too late to attend last year, but read the comment and reviews and the success of the conference that we were keen to make sure we experience and are part of this year’s conference.
When you attend FOOTPRINT+ in May 2024 what will you be sharing with conference delegates, policy makers, your partners, and your industry peers?
We will be sharing in best practice. Raising awareness of everything we are doing in our industry and improving to reduce our carbon emissions and impact on the environment. The importance of manufacturing with end of life in mind bring to market Cradle to Cradle Gold and Silver Certified Products and the promotion of Take Back schemes, such as ours, which are keeping products in circulation longer, giving them a second life in much needed social housing sector, or which can provide a much-need resource to other industries which benefit from the reclamation of such materials, negating the need to extract further raw materials.
What are you looking to get out of the FOOTPRINT+ event?
Inspiration and learning from others on all aspects of the built environment. To learn what’s really happening out there, so we can listen and see what further improvements we can make in our own industry that will contribute to a net zero future. And an opportunity to meet and start fresh conversations with industry colleagues.
