Q&A with Sean Clemons, Managing Director, UK, MGAC
Why is it important that the UK’s property, planning and sustainability sectors come together at FOOTPRINT+?
In an industry rapidly evolving to meet the challenges of climate change and stringent environmental standards, collaboration is key. Near term legislation on future home standards and commercial EPC ratings, coupled with an imminent election, underscores the urgency for this dialogue. At MGAC, we believe in tackling these challenges collectively – sharing insights, learning, and innovating together.
What did you hear about / experience at our last year’s event which has made you want to come back?
Last year's event highlighted the industry's commitment and willingness to innovate in adapting to the new climate reality. The discussions around carbon reduction strategies for completed projects were particularly insightful. These shared experiences are invaluable for refining our strategies and approaches at MGAC.
When you attend FOOTPRINT+ in May 2024 what will you be sharing with conference delegates, policy makers, your partners, and your industry peers?
Our focus at FOOTPRINT+ will centre on the vital issue of embodied carbon. MGAC has been at the forefront of assisting our clients in achieving low-carbon, economically sustainable developments. We plan to lead comprehensive discussions on how to minimise construction phase carbon whilst considering the capital costs and whole life costs of a development. Considering both costs and carbon can assist with decision making resulting in more efficient, viable and sustainable building designs.
What are you looking to get out of the FOOTPRINT+ event?
Our goal for FOOTPRINT+ is to explore emerging technologies, approaches, and materials that facilitate low-carbon construction. We’re eager to connect with forward-thinking individuals and organisations for potential collaborations, furthering our commitment to sustainable, low carbon development.
