Q&A with Simon Webster, Gianluca Rapone & Duncan Richards, FMDC
Why is it important that the UK’s property, planning and sustainability sectors come together at FOOTPRINT+?
With the many approaches to addressing the climate emergency, it is important to share knowledge and experience across the construction sector. Footprint+ is the event that allows this to happen.
- Simon Webster, Director
What did you hear about / experience at our last year’s event which has made you want to come back?
Having attended both previous editions of FOOTPRINT+, I appreciate the breadth and depth of the conference programme and the high level of expertise of the participants. What I enjoyed the most about FOOTPRINT+ are the panel discussions, the audience engagement and the opportunity to share thoughts with the property, planning and sustainability sectors during the networking sessions. I’m looking forward to having more thought-provoking conversations this year.
- Gianluca Rapone, Sustainability Lead
When you attend FOOTPRINT+ in May 2024 what will you be sharing with conference delegates, policy makers, your partners, and your industry peers?
Knowledge sharing is essential to upskill the construction industry as quickly as possible to achieve the necessary carbon reductions our planet needs. Façades have a key role to play in regulating the building’s energy flows, in providing comfort, and giving a building its appearance. Due to their complexity and the large number of materials involved, façades also add significant embodied carbon. I am looking forward to raising awareness of the crucial role façades play in balancing energy performance and embodied carbon in the context of a building’s whole life cycle.
- Gianluca Rapone, Sustainability Lead
What are you looking to get out of the FOOTPRINT+ event?
FMDC is delighted to be participating in the forthcoming FOOTPRINT+ event, where we hope to share knowledge with other like-minded colleagues and peers. It will be a great opportunity to engage in debates around current hot topics and to showcase our firm’s ideas and efforts in progressing low façade carbon design, which has become so important over recent years. Each of us must do our part in addressing the climate emergency, and we look forward to promoting best practices and learning and sharing with others.
