Shelter From The Storm has agreed to be the charity connected to FOOTPRINT+ London

The London based homeless charity Shelter From The Storm has agreed to be the charity connected to FOOTPRINT+ London.

The charity is funded entirely by donations and shelters people experiencing homelessness – ‘whoever they are, wherever they come from' – regardless of their access to public funds. We at FOOTPRINT+ consider it to be a model for providing homeless services in the UK.

Having started in a warehouse behind Kings X station, they've gone on to take over a redundant supermarket on an estate in North London, which they have converted into a beautiful, award-winning permanent shelter for 36 people, together with a Community Cafe to develop and maintain contact with local residents.

They're now embarking on the design and construction of a new, truly affordable housing project. Ana Costa will be drawing a huge artwork at the show, and there will be a box for a blind auction to buy it; the winner will be announced immediately after the show closes.

"I worked for the Shelter cooking breakfasts, collecting end-of-day Pret a Manger sandwiches, and delivering Christmas presents for years" says Tim Pyne. "Sheila is the most progressive, inventive and caring CEO I’ve met from this sector, and she has a huge capacity to make great things happen given the requisite funding. She’ll be at the show with her planning consultant by the artwork, go and say hi."
