Speaker Q&A with Mitakshi Sirsi, Director of Sustainability - Broadway Malyan

1. Why is it important that the UK’s property, planning and sustainability sectors come together at FOOTPRINT?

With the climate emergency getting worse, we have a massively important and urgent task facing us in the built environment sector. The time for continuing to work as usual and hoping that every little will help is over and the different stakeholders in the sector MUST come together to find new and better ways of doing things. Footprint+ started this process of breaking our silos last year and I’m eagerly looking forward to what more this year’s conference will bring.

2. What did you hear about / experience at our last year’s event which has made you want to come back?

I was at the conference for all three days last year and it was brilliant. The volume, quality and breadth of content was very thoughtful and the interaction between different stakeholders also very much so. I’m looking forward to learning about the advances in the sector to help me deliver better outcomes in my own work, re-energise my motivations and find like-minded professionals to interact with.

3. When you attend FOOTPRINT+ in June 2023 what will you be sharing with conference delegates, policy makers, your partners, and your industry peers?

I look forward to sharing my thoughts and ideas and the work we have been doing as a company to leap-frog our approach to sustainability, carbon & ESG. But most importantly, I’d like to share my questions, for sometimes, the right questions could be the start to world-altering ideas – and we need a lot of these going forward.

4. What are you looking to get out of the FOOTPRINT+ event?

I’m looking to learn what people have been doing to address our current challenges, to find collaborators, people to work with and for; and most importantly I’m looking forward to meeting that collective tribe of people who are working hard to reach the better future we have all been talking about for a while now.
